We are having a new pool installed on June 17, 2021 the surveyor came out and told us it would be around $250 to re-prep the existing area where your pool has been on for over 10 years. Something is definitely wrong here, I’m also going to be complaining to the Better Business Bureau. We keep getting hung up on and jerked around from one department to another.

The recreation center is situated on the lake and surrounded by mountain views making it a peaceful respite from a busy world. The state park’s multi-use trail of crushed and packed stone provides more than 70 continuous miles of wide, flat pathway along the historic route of the D&R Canal and former rail lines.

Park Office Vary with the season – please call the park office for additional information. The management of the Nike Base Park and Veteran’s Park facilities fall under Recreation. Our playgrounds, park lands, athletic fields and open space areas come under the Parks & Recreation for maintaining a safe, healthy environment for all to enjoy.

On the lower downstream side of the dam is another large paved parking area with another boat ramp that also serves as a canoe/kayak launch. This ramp provides access to the Withlacoochee River segment that runs 1.5 miles from below the Main Dam and Spillway to the barge canal channel. This segment of the old river can have high freshwater flows if significant discharges from the lake are needed, but often there is little or no flow and the river can be tidally influenced from the Gulf of Mexico. There is both fresh and saltwater fish species to catch on the downstream side of the dam, and occasionally manatees are seen in these waters during the warmer months.

With the acceptance of this ordinance, the City established a recreation department, which is overseen by a five member recreation board, that are appointed by the Mayor. The Board of Recreation hired a full time Recreation Director. Great Turtle Park was developed in a joint effort of Mackinac Island Recreational Development, INC , the City of Mackinac Island, the State of Michigan and private donors. The park is located in Harrisonville and can be accessed via 6th or 7th Street off Cadotte Avenue or Cupids Pathway.
