According to the 2019 SCORP report, 92% of Colorado residents participate in outdoor recreation each year. Colorado’s outdoor economy contributes to a higher quality of life, making people and communities happier and healthier. DEC plays a vital role in both protecting our natural resources and providing opportunities for people to enjoy them. We are making critical upgrades to State campgrounds and facilities and we encourage more New Yorkers and visitors to connect with nature and outdoor recreation. Outdoor recreation plays an important and growing role in Michiganders’ quality of life, leisure time and health. The Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry – a first for our state – works with industry partners from many sectors to anticipate emerging trends, create effective policy and elevate outdoor recreation opportunities and resources across Michigan.
Founded in 1992, NIC provides thousands of digital services nationwide and securely processes billions of dollars on behalf of more than 5,500 federal, state, and local government partners. The Corps Network leads and supports over 130 of America’s Service and Conservation Corps. Corps are comprehensive youth development programs that engage participants in service projects, job training and academic programming. The Corps Network supports Corps by advocating on their behalf, providing access to funding and project opportunities, and by offering expertise in Corps operations and programming. Every year, The Corp Network’s efforts enable over 24,000 diverse young people, ages 16-25, to strengthen communities, improve the environment and transform their lives through service in Corps programs. The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable is America’s leading coalition of outdoor recreation trade associations and organizations working to promote the growth of the outdoor recreation economy and outdoor recreation activities.

Increasing access to outdoor recreation opportunities on our nation’s public lands is a top priority for the Department of the Interior. Activities like mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, fishing, and hiking provide physical and mental health benefits and allow Americans to more fully experience beautiful public lands and waterways. Outdoor Recreation Planners are an important part of the DOI team supporting the public’s enjoyment of land, water, and related resources for leisure use, while protecting and enhancing the quality of the environment. Graduates of the outdoor recreation industry studies program will learn through a combination of real-world and classroom experience in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary course of study. Students will learn skills in business management, sales and marketing, alongside adventure programming, guide services and expedition planning. Students will learn how the outdoor industry impacts economies, public health, tourism and the environment.
