Montana’s outdoors attracts people and talent, creating jobs and a high quality of life. Finally, as workplaces reopen and the health risks associated with public transportation become front of mind, consumers are re-evaluating their commute. Many plan to shift towards walking and cycling as healthier alternatives to travel to the workplace.

Outdoor enthusiast and outdoorsy are terms for a person who enjoys outdoor recreation.

Colorado Mesa University’s outdoor recreation industry studies program is a pursuit to become a well-rounded expert in the outdoor recreation industry, which includes businesses, product developers, innovators, entrepreneurs and service providers. Outdoor recreation is a way-of life in our community, with this “mountain culture” providing diverse benefits ranging from health and wellness to social inclusion to economic vitality. ORCBC connects like-minded organizations and communities like ours, providing platform to work collaboratively to address the complex issues and challenges that face outdoor recreation in BC. Outdoor recreation became increasingly popular as both a fitness and socially distant activity and encompassed running, hiking, cycling, boating, fishing, camping and walking. This has led to increased demand for products and services in these sectors, with strong likelihood for sustained demand going forward. Even as gyms re-open and indoor fitness resumes, many consumers are expected to continue to participate in outdoor recreation to replace or supplement their previous gym-based routines.

Mountain bikes or ATBs (all-terrain bikes) feature a rugged frame and fork. Their frames are often built of aluminum so they are lightweight and stiff, making them efficient to ride. Trekking is about enjoying a great walk and can be day hikes, overnight or extended hikes. An example of a day trek is hiking during the day and returning at night to a lodge for a hot meal and a comfortable bed. Trekking can be more enjoyable when undertaken while being generally physically fit. Physical preparation for trekking includes cycling, swimming, jogging and long walks.
