The vision of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is to create strong community partnerships, safeguard Florida’s natural resources and enhance its ecosystems. A recommendation from the 2013 SCORP was the production of a report on the overall economic impact of outdoor recreation activities in Florida. This study, completed in 2017, provides detailed information at the statewide, regional and county levels for 35 recreation activities. In partnership with Fáilte Ireland, a funding of €14 million for outdoor recreation projects and investment has been announced under this scheme. This fund will support the development of outdoor pursuits and adventure activities such as hiking/mountaineering, cycling, horse-riding, canoeing/kayaking, swimming, surfing, sailing, rock-climbing, fishing, paragliding and hang-gliding.

The outdoor recreation economy contributes $7.8 billion, or 2.4% to Wisconsin’s GDP and generates more than 93,000 jobs across diverse sectors. The outdoor recreation economy is strong, diverse, and growing, helping communities thrive. New data sources can change the way we count outdoor recreation, allowing trail managers to better advocate for improvements and plan for growing demand. ARVC is the only national association dedicated to representing the interests and needs of private RV parks and campgrounds, through education, networking and advocacy at the local, state and national levels. BoatUS is the nation’s largest advocacy, services and safety group for recreational boaters with more than a half-million dues-paying members.

Recreation includes outdoor leisure activities such as sitting for relaxation, or to eat, drink or read outdoors. If you live in an area with stay-at-home rules and own or live in a water vessel, you can travel to a marina or mooring to maintain the vessel and ensure it’s in a sea-worthy condition. If you live in regional and rural NSW or Greater Sydney with stay-at-home rules, you can undertake driving lessons with another member of your household.
